Manipur: Langsai Thouna members arrested

The members of Langsai Thouna were arrested following the peace bike rally they organised on Friday, appealing not to conduct the Lok Sabha election before the ongoing violence in the state concluded.

Kakching Police arrested three members of Langsai Thouna, including their convenor Ksh Rajiv on Friday, following which irate locals of Kakching carried out a total shutdown at Kakching Keithel and stormed Kakching Police Station demanding their unconditional release on Saturday.

The members of Langsai Thouna were arrested following the peace bike rally they organised on Friday, appealing not to conduct the Lok Sabha election before the ongoing violence in the state concluded. 

The rally which was carried out on the routes of Thoubal and Kakching district was stopped at Langmeidong by the security forces.

Reports said that shops at Kakching Keithel were shut and people protested by blocking Kakching road. A large number of women stormed Kakching police station and Kakching police also assured the protesters that they would be released at the earliest.

Later, they were released on a surety bond of Rs 20,000 each after they were produced before CJM Thoubal through video conferencing. Kakching Keithel returned to normalcy and shops started opening after they were released.
