Manipur Landslide Rescue Operation Day 5: Five more bodies recovered, 14 still missing

Till Monday evening, the rescue team had retrieved a total of 47 bodies that were buried in the landslide debris while 14 remained missing.

A total of five more bodies, including that of a Subedar of 107 Territorial Army and an unidentified one, were recovered on the fifth day of the ongoing rescue and search operation launched after the massive landslide which occurred at Makhuam village in Noney district, Manipur. 

Four bodies have been identified as those of Subedar Sajit Subba, 44, son of CM Subba of Darjeeling, West Bengal; VSC labourers Raju Ali, 33, son of late Hamed Ali of Barajol village, Nalbari in Assam and Akash Loram, 19, son of Dalimi Loram of Laubhurunga, Marigaon district in Assam and Kamlesh Talukdar of NF Railway. One body remains to be identified so far.

The mortal remains recovered on Monday have also been transported to JNIMS mortuary for conducting post mortem.

According to the updated figures from official sources, 79 persons were affected by the landslide out of which 18 were rescued alive.
