Manipur Job Fair 2021: 3,545 candidates received training in various trades under DDU-JYK

The Manipur rural development minister appreciated the candidates, especially the girl candidates who have come out seeking jobs, and said the presence of girls in large numbers in the Job Fair 2021 is in fact a sign of women empowerment.

Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh on Saturday said that under the DDU-JYK 3,545 candidates have received training in various trades/sector out of the sanctioned target of 10,518 by end of 2023 and 2042 have been placed in various organizations till date.

Biswajit Singh was speaking as the chief guest at the closing function of a Two-Day Job Fair 2021 on the occasion of “Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” at the Lawn Area, Hotel Imphal By The Classic.

The fair was organised by the State Skills Mission Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM).
Further in his speech, the Minister also said that similar job fairs should be organized in all districts for at least two days so that trained youths from other districts who cannot attend the fair in Imphal can also get the benefit.

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), he said, adding that the two-day fair is being organized under the scheme.
Manipur is also one of the leading states in implementation of the scheme, he said, adding that unfortunately, due to the pandemic there were some delays in organizing and conducting similar activities as the job-fair. But, now it has been resumed, he added.

The minister further appreciated the attending companies and candidates. He further appreciated the candidates, especially the girl candidates who have come out seeking jobs, and said the presence of girls in large numbers in the fair is in fact a sign of women empowerment.

Biswajit also encouraged the young girls to become entrepreneurs, stating that there are several schemes like Start Up which encourage entrepreneurs. He sais that the Prime Minister has also introduced several schemes for the welfare of women including the Jan Dhan Yojana, UJJAWALA Scheme, etc.

Biswajit also inspected the stalls at the fair and interacted with the staffs. The closing function was also attended by Chief Operating Officer-Skill State Skills Mission Kh Bobby Singh. Altogether 18 companies took part in the two-day fair. (DIPR)
