Manipur HC judges, bar members visit relief camps

The delegation urged the inmates to share their concerns through the Para Legal Volunteers of the District Legal Services Authority.

A delegation led by the Chief Justice Siddharth Mridul, along with companion Judges of the High Court of Manipur and other members of the Bar visited the relief camps opened at Sekmaijin Panchayat Ghar, Sekmaijin Kakching district and Elangkhangpokpi Mayai Leikai Mandop, Elangkhangpokpi, Kakching district on Friday.

Justice A Bimol Singh, Justice A Guneshwar Sharma and Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu Kabui accompanied the Chief Justice.

Besides the chairman of the Bar Council of Manipur S Brajabihari Singh; president of the High Court Bar Association of Manipur Y Nirmolchand Singh; Deputy Solicitor General of India, High Court of Manipur Kh Samarjit Singh; Senior Advocates, Huirem Ishwarlal Singh and Sapam Biswajit Meitei; Registrar General of the High Court of Manipur Yumkham Rother; President of the All Manipur Judicial Officers’ Association Binny Ngangom, District and Sessions Judge, Thoubal Samom Ibjen, Member Secretary of Manipur State Legal Services Authority Alek Muivah, Secretary of Thoubal District Legal Services Authority Masana Evangeline Panmei, President of Thoubal District Bar Association Kh Arunkumar Singh accompanied the delegation, stated a release.  

It stated that Deputy Commissioner, Kakching Somorjit Salam along with Medical Officer of the District, was also present and he briefed the visiting delegation about the conditions of the camps, it stated.

It mentioned that relief materials were distributed to families residing in the two relief camps. The families received essential items such as charcoal, charcoal heaters (meiphu), torch light with lamp, hot water bag, diapers, plastic mat, mattress, thin woollen shawls, winter woollen trousers for women, and sports items aiming to alleviate some of the challenges faced by the inmates, it said.

During the visit, the delegation interacted with the inmates. The delegation urged the inmates to share their concerns through the Para Legal Volunteers of the District Legal Services Authority, it added.
