Manipur Governor La Ganesan inaugurates two medical oxygen plants at RIMS

Director A Santa Singh of RIMS said that the two 10 KL Liquid Medical Oxygen plants have been set up in preparation to tackle possible COVID-19 third wave.

Manipur Governor La Ganesan on Tuesday inaugurated two 10 kl liquid medical oxygen (LMO) plants at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.

During the inaugural, the governor expressed that he is delighted for the inauguration of the oxygen plants and to mark another significant event in the rejuvenation of the institute of medical sciences in the Northeast region. He said that he was there not only for the inauguration but also to encourage all to pursue excellence.

RIMS Imphal is one of the great institutions, as far as healthcare is concerned, not only in the Northeast states but also in the country. RIMS has done the nation a great service by producing many young doctors and specialists to contribute to the healthcare sector, he said.

During the early days of its establishment, RIMS was known as the Regional Medical College (RMC) and was a highly respected healthcare institution even then, he added.

Expressing support to the doctors and medical students, he said that they will extend all help to the needy patients irrespective of positions and emphasised on having one unified goal fully supporting patients in the hospital.

“It is, indeed, a matter of great satisfaction that the RIMS has these two 10 KL Liquid Medical Oxygen Plants which is quite indispensable at the critical juncture of COVID-19 pandemic. It will really be a great relief on the part of the authorities as RIMS also experienced untold hardships during the peak period of Covid,” he added.

He appreciated the current management, especially director Dr A Santa and all staff of RIMS for taking initiatives for the welfare of the emerging professionals.

He also appreciated RIMS for taking significant initiatives like providing free vaccines against COVID - 19 and allowing nurses to self isolate after their duty.

The governor advised the doctors, nurses and young medical students to take advantage of the health revolution that the government has provided, by working hand in hand with institutions like the RIMS to seize the opportunities that have been given to them and work as hard as they could.

RIMS Nurses Association expressed their gratitude to the governor for the support and encouragement he has been rendering to the doctors, nurses and attendants.
