Manipur Governor La Ganesan on Sunday extended heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur, particularly the Kuki-Chin-Mizo brethren on the auspicious occasion of Kut Festival, 2021.
In his message, the governor stated that Kut is considered the biggest festival among the Kuki-Chin-Mizo ethnic groups, and it is celebrated as a post-harvest festival for thanksgiving and gratitude to the Almighty for a bountiful harvest. The festival also symbolises peace, harmony and unity rising above the barriers of caste, creed or religion, he stated. More and more people belonging to different communities have also joined in the celebration every year, spreading the message of oneness, he mentioned. “Let the spirit of Kut embrace one and all to strengthen the social fabric more than ever and bring prosperity to all the communities in the state,” he added.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh also extended greetings to the people of Manipur, particularly the Chin-Kuki-Mizo brethren on the occasion.
In his message, Biren stated that Kut or Chavang Kut, which is celebrated on November 1 every year, marks the end of the harvesting season and thanksgiving to the Almighty for an abundant harvest. The festival has also assumed greater significance for bringing together communities in the celebration cutting across religion and faith, he stated.
“I am hopeful that the festival will facilitate greater love, oneness and brotherhood amongst all communities in the state,” he added.
Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Yumnam Khemchand also extended his greetings for Kut festival or ‘Chavan Kut’ to Kuki brethren.
In his message, Khemchand said that Kut festival which literally means autumn harvest and is celebrated by the Kuki-Chin-Mizo tribes of Manipur. The festival is observed to mark the end of the harvesting season and also to thank deities for a good harvest season.
"I wish the festival to usher forth abundance and happiness in the state just as the festival strives to live up to," stated Khemchand.
Forest Minister Awangbow Newmai extended his wishes to the people and stated that the festival symbolizes peace, harmony and unity transcending the barriers of caste, creed or religion.
The post harvest festival of the Chin-Kuki-Mizo ethnic group is celebrated across the state of Manipur for thanksgiving and gratitude to the almighty for a bountiful harvest, he stated in his message.
The festival spreads the message of peace, communal harmony, friendship and brotherhood amongst various communities living in Northeast India in general, particularly in Manipur. “I hope the spirit of the festival will continue to embrace one and all to strengthen the social fabric more than ever and bring prosperity to all the communities in the state. I wish that the festival will spread the message of love, peace, compassion and forgiveness among the people of Manipur,” he added.
Extending his wishes, Works minister Th Biswajit Singh stated that the spirit of Kut is all about sharing, understanding, harmonious co-existence, co-operation and merriment, he added. “Let the spirit of Kut embrace one and all to strengthen the social fabric more than ever and bring prosperity to all the communities in the state,” he added in message.
Tourism Minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh also conveyed his greetings on the occasion. “May this festival spread the message of peace, communal harmony, friendship and brotherhood amongst various communities living in Manipur,” he stated in his message.
Employment Minister Th Satyabrata Singh stated, “With the arrival of Kut, let us relive and cherish the virtues of communal harmony, unity and humanity in our hearts. May Kut spread the message of love, happiness, peace and compassion to every nook and corner of Manipur,” in his message.
