Manipur Governor, CM extend Cheiraoba wishes

In her message, the Governor said that for the Hindu Meiteis, Cheiraoba symbolizes the coming of a New Year and is a festival celebrated by every household with great enthusiasm and gaiety.

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Friday extended heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Cheiraoba.

In her message, the Governor said that for the Hindu Meiteis, Cheiraoba symbolizes the coming of a New Year and is a festival celebrated by every household with great enthusiasm and gaiety.

The festival represents the change of guards, where the old give way to the new and with the arrival of spring which makes the landscape green, it rekindles hopes for a better life, she asserted.

She further urged all to rededicate to strive towards the goal for bringing peace, prosperity and progress in every household of Manipur and also wished that the coming New Year dispel the dark and bring in light to the State for a better future.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh also wished good health, wealth and happiness to the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Cheiraoba, which falls on Saturday.

The chief minister, in his wishes, stated that the festival marks the end of the previous year and the onset of a new year. It signifies the onset of spring, a season of rejuvenation and renewal, when nature bursts forth with new life and vitality, he added.

He called upon everyone to travel into the New Year with hope and ambition and resolve to do greater good for ourselves, our beloved ones and our society.
