Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said the state government has been mounting pressure on the Central government to repeal the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) and will continue to do so until it is completely repealed.
He told the media on the sidelines of the programme for launching ‘Involving Public Aspiration in Party Manifesto’ at Jawaharlal Nehru Dance Academy, Imphal on Wednesday.
The programme was organised by the manifesto committee, 12th Assembly Election Manipur, Bharatiya Janata Party, Manipur Pradesh. He was responding to the media regarding the Mon district, Nagaland incident where the Indian armed forces gunned down 13 coal miners on Saturday. Biren said the state government condemned the incident.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh had been expressing on various occasions that the law and order situation in the state has been getting better after the BJP government was formed. He also said on various platforms that the fear people used to feel while seeing security forces have been reduced with the coming of the present government.
However, the ‘Disturbed Area’ status in the entire state except in Imphal Municipal Areas had been extended for another one year from December 2020.
Meanwhile, N Biren attending the occasion as the chief guest launched ‘Involving Public Aspiration in Party Manifesto’ box in the presence of state BJP president A Sharda Devi; Education Minister S Rajen; MLA M Rameshwar Singh, BJP national spokesperson and in-charge of Manipur Sambit Patra.
Biren said the said boxes will be installed at every major market of the entire state including hill districts and three boxes will be kept at each assembly constituency.
He said people can put their opinions in the box so that the state BJP could include them in the party manifesto for the upcoming state legislative assembly election. The people can also place their opinion through the box or can send an email at ‘meeyamgiasha2022@gmail.com’.
