Manipur Government Services’ Federation on Tuesday urged the state government to fulfil their demands in light of the observation of National Demands Day on May 27 and 28. In a letter addressed to Chief Minister N Biren Singh, the federation stated that the demands are raised since the National Demands Day has to be observed by all central and state government employees including banks, insurance companies etc. all over India.
The demands include scrapping of National Pension Scheme (NPS) by enrolling all employees to Defined
Pension Scheme, and implementation of 7th pay in respect of school teachers and grant-in-aid bodies.
It appealed for the filling of vacancies in government departments through statutory recruitment bodies, including promotional posts. It further demanded the authority to end “all back door appointments” and to stop the privatisation of government establishments and public sector units.
Urging for the regularisation of all contracts, daily waged and outsourced employees, it drew the authority’s attention to “ensure of minimum wages to all”.
The federation demanded the authority to abandon the New Education Policy, and stop re-employment or re-engagement of retired employees.
It also demanded the authority to control the price rise and provide Universal Public Distribution System. It further appealed for the immediate release of all impounded DAs and to establish a police recruitment board and rectify pay/ grade pay anomalies.
