Manipur government clarifies on website suspension

The clarification is issued in response to reports on various media platforms that “the website has been temporarily suspended by the Election Commission of India for violation of the Model Code of Conduct.”

The Manipur state government on Tuesday clarified that the official website of the Chief Minister’s Office, www.cmmanipur.gov.in, has been temporarily suspended voluntarily by the Chief Minister’s Office to observe compliance with provisions of the Model Code of Conduct.

The clarification is issued in response to reports on various media platforms that “the website has been temporarily suspended by the Election Commission of India for violation of the Model Code of Conduct.”

This position is incorrect. The official website is suspended voluntarily and not on account of any instruction of the ECI for any violation, stated a release issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

Media bodies are advised to refrain from publication of unverified information as news, as the same may invite legal action, it stated.
