Condemning the BJP-led Manipur government for not controlling the issue of price rise of essential items, the Manipur Loumi Lup (MLL) has appealed to people of the state to collectively raise their voice with the lup (association) against the government.
Secretary of MLL, H Ibobi Singh said in a release that the nationwide lockdown for many months has impacted the tremendous increase of prices of many essential items. However, the authority concerned is not taking keen interest to control the price inflation thereby causing hardship mostly to daily wage earners, he added.
The release said that considering the worsening condition of the economy of the nation, the lockdown was lifted in phase wise manner since September 21. But the economic condition of many sectors of the society is still not improving. The state government should draw attention to the price hike as well instead of just implementing new SOPs, it added.
It further said that apart from COVID-19 lockdown, implementation of Farm Reforms Bill which is termed as pro-corporate bill in recent parliamentary session is also another reason to increase prices of many food items.
The government has completely sidelined the difficulties and challenges faced by people in this critical situation and it is high time to raise voice to end the sufferings of the state, said the release.
