Manipur election co-incharge Ashok Singhal visits Ukhrul

Singhal attended BJP joint organisational meeting-cum-mass enrollment campaign in Ukhrul on Wednesday.

The Manipur state election co-incharge Ashok Singhal who is also the minister of Irrigation of Assam arrived at Manipur's Ukhrul district on Wednesday. 

The visiting BJP leader arrived to attend Bharatiya Janata Party’s joint organisational meeting cum mass enrolment campaign. 

In a new political development ahead of the ensuing state general elections, as many as 70 congress (INC) and NPF party leaders, senior party functionaries and workers from 44 Ukhrul mandal and 45-Chingai mandal officially joined the state BJP on Wednesday, according to  BJP Manipur state co-incharge political programmes and meeting Michael Shaiza.

The occasion was held at Town Hall Ukhrul in the presence of cabinet minister of Assam cum election co-incharge of Manipur Ashok Singhal and vice-president, BJP Manipur state Ch Chitananda Singh; Ukhrul district in charge, district and mandal leaders along with the aspiring candidates of Ukhrul, Chingai and Phungyar assembly constituencies. 

Earlier, the visiting BJP leader Ashok Singhal and district in charge Chidananda met the district party leaders and BJP intending candidates of Ukhrul assembly constituency namely Somatai Shaiza, Ngakuimiza Asai, Mark Luithing; Chingai assembly constituency candidates MK Preshow Himray, Ningam Chamroy, Khashim Ruivah, and Phungyar assembly constituency intending candidates Hopingson Shimray, and Somi Awungshi at party district office.

He exhorted the district party leaders and candidates to focus on party unity.

“Unity could bring better results, and it is the key to holistic development and a stepping stone towards progress, and strengthening of the party. We could accomplish all things if we have unity,” Ashok added. 

“Coming together is a beginning; joining hands together and working in unison is a sign of progress. In the interest of one candidate, the unity of the party should not be broken but all should work in close tandem with cooperation and strengthen the party,” Ashok added while stressing on the essence of unity.

In his speech, BJP state vice president Chidananda made a clarion call to elect one

MLA's each from the three assembly constituencies of Ukhrul, Chingai and Phungyar. 

The programme was attended by vice president BJP Manipur state Ch Chindananda Singh; president BJP Ukhrul district Thothing Kashung; vice president BJP Ukhrul district Wungtam Zimik;  BJP Manipur state co-incharge political programmes and meeting Michael Shaiza; intending BJP candidates of Ukhrul, Chingai and Phungyar assembly constituencies; BJP 45 and 44 mandal president Bejoy Shatsang, Longyao, Ukhrul mandal vice president RW Timothy, Pamreishang, party karyakartas, and various morchas of the party.  

 The programme was jointly organised by BJP Ukhrul and Chingai mandal.
