Manipur: Curfew relaxed again after Arambai Tenggol meet

Curfew relaxed in all areas of Imphal West district from 5 am to 10 pm for Thursday.

With Manipur showing development of law and order, the government has relaxed curfew timing in all areas of Imphal West district from 5 am to 10 pm for Thursday.

According to the order issued by the respective district magistrate on Wednesday, curfew has been relaxed in the district to facilitate the general public in purchasing essential items including medicines and food.

The statement further said that the relaxation will not include any gatherings/sit-in-protests/rallies etc. without obtaining approval through competent authority.

It mentioned that movement of persons belonging to essential services such as health, electricity, PHED, petrol pumps, schools/colleges, municipality, press and electronic media, functioning of courts, to and fro movement of flight passengers to the airport and contractor/worker with valid Airport Entry Permit (AEP) card will be exempted from the imposition of curfew.

Curfew has also been relaxed in Thoubal district from 5 am till 10 pm for Thursday. As per the latest order issued by the respective district magistrate, unauthorized gathering of four or more persons and carrying of arms, sticks, stones, and other weapons is prohibited.

However, all persons belonging to essential services such as Health, PHED, MSPDCL/MSPCL, CAF and PD, municipalities, print and electronic media, to and fro movement of flight passengers to airport and functioning of courts will be exempted from further Imposition of curfew after the expiry of said period of relaxation, it mentioned.

Meanwhile, curfew in the district of Bishnupur has been relaxed from 5 am till 5 pm for Thursday. An order issued by District Magistrate/DC, Bishnupur, Manipur, Lourembam Bikram stated that curfew has been relaxed with conditions.

The order said that no person shall carry any arms of any kind during the period of relaxation for inciting violence such as sticks, stones, and firearms without a valid License, weapons, or objects of any description, which can be used as offensive weapons.

It stated that shops and other retail outlets are allowed to open during the period of relaxation. It further said that all persons shall effectively abide by the relaxation schedule.

No extension is given and valid for any person and all attempts to delay shall be treated as violative of the curfew, it maintained. The order also said that violation or attempt of violation of any kind shall be treated as per government instructions and as applicable per law.

All persons belonging to essential services such as the Health, PHED, Municipal Officials/Staffs and Media persons will be exempted from further Imposition of curfew after the expiry of said period of relaxation, it added.
