Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) leaders on Tuesday left for Delhi for an emergency meeting with top All India Congress Committee (AICC) leaders in connection with the present tense situation in Manipur.
The MPCC delegation departed from Imphal at around 9.50 am on Tuesday for an emergency meeting with AICC leaders at 10 Janpath, New Delhi at 4 pm.
The delegation included MPCC president K Meghachandra, Manipur CLP leader O Ibobi Singh, Congress Working Committe member Gaikhangam, Dy CLP leader K Ranjit Singh, former MP Dr T Meinya, former MLA O Surjakumar, and former minister M Okendro.
Briefing mediapersons in Imphal on May 7 in the wake of the ethnic violence in the state, the Manipur Congress lashed out at the BJP-led government for the failure to ensure peace in Manipur, and urged the government to restore peace in the state. It also appealed to the public and the governmnt to work together to bring bacl peace in the state.
The MPCC had also said that the proactiveness of the state government was yet to be seen in providing adequate relief and rehabilitation measures to those affected by the communal clash.
