The Manipur Congress party on Sunday lashed out at Chief Minister N Biren for his comment on the state Congress party election manifesto, saying that it is not like that of the BJP with false promises.

“Congress manifesto is not like that of the BJP’s 2017 election manifesto which is filled with false promises," Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) spokesperson N Bhupenda told mediapersons in Imphal West on Sunday.

On Saturday, Biren termed the Congress manifesto as “impractical, difficult to implement, and mere propaganda to bluff the people” while speaking to the media after filing his nomination for the coming election to the state Legislative Assembly.

Bhupenda recalled the announcement made by the chief minister just after the formation of the BJP-led government of providing jobs to 1.5 lakh unemployed youth in a year which amounts to 7.5 lakh in five years.

Contrary to it, the state government in its five-year tenure is still unable to announce a single recruitment result of a few hundreds posts created during the five years, he said.

“Such is the real character of the BJP,” he added.

Bhupenda also alleged that the BJP-led government has not taken up any initiative to conduct any MPSC examination for recruitment of new MCS, MPS and MFS for good governance.

Moreover, a cabinet of the BJP-led government had decided to recruit employees of Group A,B,C and D government jobs only on contractual basis for a term of five to 10 years with pre-revised salary, he alleged.

With such "anti-permanent recruitment rules" made by the BJP-led government and their various anti-people propaganda, the past five years can be considered as a “dark age” of Manipur, the spokesperson added.

The Manipur Congress party promised to quash the cabinet's decision regarding the contractual recruitment process, once the Congress and its like minded parties formed the government after the election, he further said.

The spokesperson also maintained that the upcoming Congress-led government will also establish a Manipur Staff Selection Commission in addition to the MPSC to conduct recruitment process of MPSC on yearly basis. It will make a policy to award the post of district magistrate or deputy commissioner to an MCS officer.

On behalf of the MPCC, the spokesperson also expressed their heartfelt condolences on the demise of renowned singer Lata Mangeshkar on Sunday.

“We prayed that the departed soul may rest in peace in his heavenly abode,” he added.
