Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that the state government is working on introducing Imphal-Bangkok flight connectivity at least once a week, as a part of the Act East Policy.
"As the implementation of Act East Policy gains momentum, ideas were exchanged for strengthening cooperation in IT sector, Tourism, and Medical Tourism in Manipur. The State Government is already working on introducing Imphal-Bangkok flight connectivity at least once a week," the chief minister tweeted after a meeting with the visiting Thai delegation on Thursday.
The chief minister chaired a meeting at his office with the 13-member Thai business delegation led by Ambassador of Thailand to India, Pattrat Hongtong on a visit to Manipur Thursday. State Health abd Family Welfare Minister Sapam Rajan and Textile Minister Nemcha Kipgen were also present during the interaction with the visiting Ambassador of Thailand to India.
The meeting discussed several issues, including trade and commerce between the two countries, strengthening cooperation in IT sector, tourism and medical tourism in Manipur. Several government officials and representatives were also present at the meeting.
"It was a pleasure to have the Thai Business delegation led by Hon’ble Ambassador of@ThailandinIndia, H.E Ms. Pattrat Hongtong at my secretariat today. In presence of Govt. officials and representatives of@FollowCII, we had a productive discussion on a range of issues," Biren said in another tweet.
The chief minister said the delegation has been invited to attend the upcoming Sangai Festival, 2022.
The Thai delegates included four officials from Royal Thai Embassy New Delhi, three officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and six officials from six different chambers of Commerce.
The team also visited the Integrated Check Post (ICP) Moreh and held a meeting with the stakeholders and intracted with T Baihte, manager, ICP Moreh and other officials. During the interaction, Baite highlighted the purpose and various functions of ICP in regard to trade with South East Asian nations while Y Krishna Anand- Senior immigration officer informed the Thai delegates about the current situation along the border and its impact on cross border movement of people and goods.
