The Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) Convention 2022-23 was held on Tuesday, during which wards of Best ASHA were conferred to 12 ASHA workers of 12 Health Facilities under Imphal West at GM Hall in Imphal.
The convention organised by the District Health Mission Society, Imphal West also witnessed a talent show performed by ASHA workers.
Delivering the presidential speech, CMO Imphal West L Joykumar stressed on the immense role taken by the ASHA workers on a voluntary basis at the health care sectors and stated that they are the real social activists.
He also called on the doctors and other health care staff to treat the ASHA workers with respect and care, as they are the ones who are working on voluntary services with a small amount of honorarium for the well-being of others.
Taking on the role of the healthcare workers in keeping the citizens healthy, the CMO stressed the need of cooperation among them to ensure that the citizens are getting the best health care services.
He also announced that the Imphal West district has secured the top position in the Village Health Nutrition programme in the state and gave the credit to the 350 plus ASHA workers of Imphal West.
He further assured of extending all possible support from the CMO office to ensure welfare of the ASHA workers. He also apprised them to give their best service to enable Imphal West become the best district in Northeast region in the health care sector.
The programme was attended by Imphal West DC Th Kirankumar; Public Health State senior specialist nodal officer Dr Wahengbam Jubilee; CDPO ICDS Wangoi S Nirvarani Devi; CDPO ICDS Lamsang Roshnichand Tourangbam and CDPO ICDS Imphal City Th Lakhipriya as chief guest and guests of honour respectively.
