Manipur: Arms, ammunition recovered

One AK-47 Rifle, one magazine, one LMG Magazine, 20 rounds of 5.56mm, five bullet proof covered jackets, among others were recovered from Sinam village in Imphal East.

A combined team of Imphal East District Police, Red Shield Division, BSF and CRPF recovered arms and ammunition from Sinam and Yangthoupokpi (Sanjenlok) Meetei villages under the jurisdiction of Sagolmang Police Station, Imphal East district on Monday morning.

The team was led by SP Imphal East Ksh Shivakanta along with Addl SP I/E, Cdo, Women Police, IRB, MR and recovered the arms during a search operation conducted at the said area from 3.30 am till 5.45 am on Monday.

One AK-47 Rifle, one magazine, one LMG Magazine, 20 rounds of 5.56mm, five bullet proof covered jackets, three bullet proof chest iron, one Khaki jacket, three khaki shirts and one khaki pants were recovered from Sinam village. Two carbines, two magazines and one 303 rifle without magazine were recovered from Yangthoupokpi (Sanjenlok) village.

Villagers of Sanjenlok condemned the combined security forces for failing to flush out the Kuki militants from Ikou, Sadu Yengkhuman and Dolaithabi. They were also urged to let them return back to their homes and resume agricultural activities.
