Manipur Agriculture Minister Th Biswajit on Thursday announced that the transfer and posting order for officials of the Agriculture department will be issued based on the performance and achievement of the officials.
The agriculture minister was speaking at the inauguration of the 150 MT Capacity Fertilizer Godowns at the office of the Imphal East and Thoubal District Agriculture Offices (DAOs). The function was held at the DAO, Imphal East at Porompat.
The godowns were constructed under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) 2020-21 with a project cost of Rs 80 lakh each.
Biswajit said the department is working with full efforts to prevent any unwanted scandals in connection with fertilisers.
Every genuine farmer will get the needed fertiliser in time after due verification regardless of acquiring land documents or not, he said, adding, “We will not do business in agriculture.”
Pointing out that the Agriculture department is lagging behind from others in terms of infrastructures which is a key component for being a fully functional department, he apprised the officials to share their innovative ideas and view among them to strengthen the department.
The minister expressed his dissatisfaction on witnessing the campus of the DAO, Imphal East which is covered with untrimmed bushes and without any signboard. In this regard he called on the officials of the district office to maintain decorum.
Biswajit also announced that the DAO, Imphal East will have started taking up a pilot project for vermicomposting where the package compost will be made available across the state at a reasonable price to encourage organic farming for better health.
Recalling the recent bust of three trucks containing the bags of urea fertiliser in the state, he clarified that the seized urea is in no way stock allotted to the state government, but procured from other states by some traders.
The function was also attended by Lamlai MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha, Agriculture commissioner M Joy Singh and Agriculture director N Gojendro among others.
