A 43-year-old man succumbed to his injuries in a hospital after allegedly being assaulted by miscreants at Takhel, Madilok in Imphal East on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as one Md Sahir alias Sana, 43, son of (L) Abdur Rahim of Kshetri Bengoon Awang Leikai.
The victim’s brother, Md Abdur Rajak, 47, son of (L) Md Abdur Rahim of Kshetri Bengoon, Imphal East filed a complaint report to the Officer-in-Charge Lamlai Police Station Imphal East on Sunday.
The report mentioned that Md Sahir went out around 11 am on Thursday, saying that he will be transporting cattle from Takhel to Hatta Golapati hired by one Sana wife of Md Firoz of Hatta Golapati.
He left the house on his vehicle TATA Super ACE bearing regn. no. MN01S 5407, it stated.
It mentioned that he was accompanied by Sana and Bito, wife of Manglem of Kanglatombi and Abir Khan of Sora. The cattle was to be picked up from the residence of one Nganbi, wife of Nanao of Takhel, Madilok, it added.
On reaching the residence of Nganbi Takhel Madilok they were beaten black and blue by some unknown persons, it stated.
Md Sahir was seriously injured and admitted to a hospital. However, after continuous treatment at Raj Medicity he could not recover and died at the hospital on Sunday evening, it added.
An FIR No.152(10)2023, U/S 147/148/149/354 /326/302 IPC has been registered in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, the body has been transported to JNIMS mortuary.
