Man dies after consuming rat poison

The deceased was employed as a construction worker at Masol Building Partners

A non-local construction worker residing at a cement hardboard shop in Tera Loukham Leirak in Imphal West under Lamphel Police Station died after allegedly consuming rat poison on Wednesday.  

The deceased has been identified as one Sunil Rajbhar, 26, son of Shib Rajbhar from Howrah West Bengal and presently residing at the hardboard shop called Thounaojam Construction, Tera Loukham Leirak. He was employed as a construction worker at Masol Building Partners (Head Office West Bengal).

On 12 pm of Monday, he was found unwell and vomiting inside the godown of Thounaojam Construction, Tera Loukham Leirak.  When checked, other employees of the shop noticed a rat poison called Commando cake inside his room. He was admitted to RIMS where he received treatment and he was discharged the next day after the doctors declared that he was out of danger.     

As per sources, Sunil had a conversation with one person from Masol Building Partners on Wednesday. The person is said to have come from West Bengal. After the person left, Sunil was found dead in his room at around 2 pm, sources said.  

Employees of Thounaojam Construction raised suspicion that Sunil probably consumed the rat poison again. Lamphel Police Station has registered a case in connection with the death. A post mortem examination of the body has been carried out at RIMS Mortuary.
