Special Judge S Imocha of Fast Track Special Court No 1, Manipur on Wednesday convicted a 52-year-old man of abducting and sexually assaulting a minor under section 366 IPC by invoking the provision under section 221 CrPC and POCSO 8.

The prosecution proved that convict Lairenlakpam Rana, 52, son of (L) L Ibopishak of Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak, Imphal West committed the offence under section 366 and POCSO 8.
On November 5, 2016, the accused kidnapped the 11-year-old minor and sexually assaulted her, according to the victim's family, which lodged a complaint at Lamphel Police station on November 7.

The convict is reportedly a friend of the victim’s father.
