Man arrested in motorcycle theft case

A man accused of stealing a motorcycle at Khuman Lampak during the match of the Hero Tri-Nation International Football Tournament on March 23 has been arrested, police said.

A man from Thoubal has been arrested for alleged involvement in the stealing of a motorcycle at Khuman Lampak Stadium, Imphal, sources said.

Police said the arrested person has been identified as one Md Abdul Wahid, 27 years’ old, son of one Md Abdul Manal of Lilong Ushoipokpi Tharaorou Chingol, Thoubal district.

A team of Imphal West police team arrested the accused at 7 am Saturday, the police said.

The arrested person was reportedly involved in the stealing of one KTM 250 motorcycle at Khuman Lampak Stadium, Imphal, during the match of the Hero Tri-Nation International Football Tournament on March 23.

The police said the KTM motorcycle without registration number bearing the same Chassis Number and Engine number was recovered unattended from Lilong Kaleikhong area the same day.

During preliminary verification, the accused disclosed that he was involved in stealing of the above mentioned vehicle along with his associates - one Md Azad Khan (age about 25 years) of Lilong Awang Leikai and Md Mujib Khan (age about 27 years) of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai, the police said.

A mobile handset was also recovered from his possession, the police added.

Hectic efforts are underway by teams of CDO-IW to arrest the above mentioned persons namely Md. Azad Khan and Md. Mujib Khan at the earliest.  The arrested person and the seized article are handed over to OC-Imphal Police Station for taking further action, the police said.
