Man arrested for stealing money in Kakching

The recovered cash amount is Rs 1.5 lakh

One man was arrested by Kakching police on October 3 for stealing money from a brick field owned by Ksh Joy Singh of Kakching Sumak Leikai.

A release by SP of Kakching district stated that on October 3 at around 3 am, VDF P Rojitkumar Singh of Sora Out Post was doing his night sentry duty and came across one man coming from Kakching to Thoubal and on suspicion the person was stopped and checked. The VDF immediately informed ASI L Surchandra Singh, who is in-charge of the outpost. After thorough checking, the police personnel found a drilling machine inside a bag and later one red towel was also found being wrapped around his waist. When the person was asked to remove the towel, he tactfully escaped and ran towards a paddy field but was caught after being chased and the stolen money was recovered.

After being interrogated, the person identified himself as Thoudam Binod Singh, 30, son of (Late) Th Basanta Singh of Khongjom Sapam Bazaar Maning, it added.

The cash amount of the money recovered is Rs 1,22,000, which Binod has admitted to be stolen from the brickfield. An FIR has been registered at Kakching Police Station and the arrested person has been handed over to the OC of the police station along with the seized money for further necessary legal action, said the release.
