Major Gen Rajan Sharawat is new Inspector General Assam Rifles (South)

Major Gen Rajan Sharawat took over from Major Gen Alok Naresh, who proceeded on posting after successfully completing his tenure.

Major General Rajan Sharawat, Vishist Seva Medal took over the reigns of Assam Rifles in Manipur as the new Inspector General Assam Rifles (South). He relieved Major General Alok Naresh who proceeded on posting after successfully completing his tenure.

"Major General Rajan Sharawat is a highly qualified and proficient officer with vast counter insurgency experience and has previously commanded a unit in Assam and a Brigade in Jammu and Kashmir," IGAR stated in a release.

The new Major General has appealed to the people of Manipur to continue extending their love and support to the security forces. He also urged the state government officials and members of the media for their cooperation and empathy.

The Major General also exhorted all ranks of IGAR (South) to continue striving for peace and prosperity in Manipur, the release added.
