Lok Adalat: 338 cases amounting over Rs 3.23 crore settled

A total of 430 cases which include both pre-litigation and pending court cases on bank recovery matters, BSNL bill matters, matrimonial cases, criminal compoundable cases, civil cases, Motor Accident Claims cases and NI Act cases were taken up during the first National Lok Adalat of 2023.

As many as 338 cases, including 21 pending cases amounting to Rs 3,23,46,030, were settled during the first National Lok Adalat that was held for the year 2023 at various locations across Manipur on Saturday.

The Lok Adalat was organised by MASLSA in association with the High Court Legal Services Committee. A total of 430 cases which include both pre-litigation and pending court cases on bank recovery matters, BSNL bill matters, matrimonial cases, criminal compoundable cases, civil cases, Motor Accident Claims cases, NI Act cases were taken up. 

The rate of settlement in connection with Saturday’s Lok Adalat stands at 78.60 per cent as compared to 66.85 per cent recorded in the last Lok Adalat held in November 2022.

A release issued by MASLSA extended thanks to the presiding officers, judicial officers, advocates, officials of bank/insurance companies and media persons for making this programme a success.

It also requested the media houses to give wider dissemination of such Lok Adalat as well as availability of legal services and Legal Services Institutions in general so that access to justice is enabled for all.
