One protester recalled that on August 14, a man named Mayonmi Ningsen was found dead on the bank of Thoubal River. In regard to the incident, the police summoned two individuals and later filed an FIR and they were arrested, the protester mentioned.

During the protest, the protesters unanimously concluded to form a JAC and commence strong protests if the two individuals are not released by August 25. The protesters demanded the authorities concerned to release the results of the post mortem of Mayonmi Ningsen.

Accusing the police of inciting communal hatred, they questioned why the police had not arrested the two individuals who accompanied Mayonmi Ningsen on the day of his death. The protesters questioned if the police had found any evidence against Toijam Naresh and Saokhom Dijen, and demanded the police to release the evidence to the public, if any.
