The local residents of Sapam Maning Leikai under Khongjom police station, Thoubal district on Saturday demonstrated a sit-in protest, condemning the alleged physical assault on one Heikrujam (O) Ibetombi by H Romikanta on August 23.
The protesters condemned the incident, during which Romikanta from Sapam Khuhoubi Leikai allegedly beat up one Heikrujam (O) Ibetombi, wife of H Inao.
One meira paibi H Sanahal demanded the immediate arrest of the alleged assaulter. She condemned the alleged act of physically assaulting a helpless woman. She questioned why the police still “had not taken up any action against the assaulter while repeatedly summoning the victim and her husband to the police station for questioning.”
Recalling the incident, the victim of the alleged incident Ibethoi appealed to the authorities concerned for her justice.
