Lions Club extends financial aid to displaced people in violence-hit Manipur

The Lions Club said it has raised some funds through contribution by individual members, which will be given to various relief camps.

IMPHAL: The fraternity of Lions Clubs of Manipur Region under district 322D extended financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to displaced persons at the relief camp in Shri Shri Gourgobind Girls’ College, Khurai.

The Lions Club said in a press release on Saturday that W Gopimohan, district governor and Th Kesho, vice-district governor-I (elect), led in handing over the amount to organiser of the relief camp in the presence of L Susindro, minister PHED, who is also the local MLA.

Speaking on the occasion, minister Susindro said that the financial assistance extended by the club will be extremely useful in purchasing basic needs for the relief camp.

Gopimohan stated that various lion clubs in Manipur have raised some funds through contribution by individual members, which will be given to various relief camps in due course of time. He also appealed to all the sections of the society to make a concerted effort for returning to peace and harmony.

Members from various lion clubs of Manipur region attended the programme, it added.

Relief distributed

IMPHAL: Club 11 along with Arambai Tenggol on Saturday organised medical camps and distribution of relief materials items at the relief camps in and around Moirang in Bishnupur district. A statement said that the Club 11 (Mayang Imphal, Uchiwa, Sekmaijing, Hiyanglam, Wabagai-Terapishak) along with Arambai Tenggol organised medical camps and distributed essential items at the relief camps at Keibul, Moirang Lamkhai, Moirang Haograngpat, Moirang Khunou Mamang Sabal, Thanga Chingkha Leikai. Arambai Tenggol has always supported the movements for the people of the state and will continue to do so, it added.
