The World Meetei Council (WMC) on Thursday stated that the Manipur government should be allowed to discharge its duty without fear or favour regarding the demand for inclusion of Meitei\Meetei community in ST list. 

In a release, WMC expressed concern that tribal organisations are putting pressure on the state government to undo the High Court decision on the matter. Nothing can be sorted out by putting pressure on an issue where the question of survival of the Meetei people is involved, it stated.

“WMC would like to place before all that there may be issues among us but they can be sorted out across the table and that is the only way to find a logical conclusion,” it added.
