The Women’s Equality Day was observed on Friday by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ukhrul in collaboration with Hungpung Women Society along with a legal awareness camp at Hungpung Baptist Church in Ukhrul.
The legal awareness camp was held under the topic, ‘law relating to drugs and punishment in India’ and ‘Land Acquisition Act, 2013’, stated DLSA, Ukhrul in release.
It stated that DLSA, Ukhrul retainer lawyer Ningnim spoke on ‘laws relating to women’ and deliberated on why the Women’s Equality Day is celebrated and further deliberated on different laws related to women.
DLSA Secretary, Ukhrul Heeralata Moirangthem spoke on ‘laws relating to drug and punishment in India’ and deliberated on the laws under NDPS Act and also deliberated the roles to be played by the women to make the society a drug free society, it stated.
As many as 70 women members of the Hungpung Women Society took part in the programme. The programme concluded with a brief interaction session, it added.
