The Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) Jiribam and Tamenglong district expressed discontentment over the alleged delay of the newly transferred medical officer (MO) in assuming post at Oinamlong PHC.
District information and publicity secretary of KSO Jiribam and Tamenglong Joy Neihsial said that Public Health Centre Oinamlong, Tousem Sub-Division, Tamenglong district has been playing an essential role in providing health services to around 22 neighbouring villages.
He said that the governor of Manipur had issued an order No. MED/402/16/2020-HS- Health, dated May 31, with respect to the transfer and posting of MHS officers, whereby in Sl No 26 of the said order mentioned that Dr Anees Begum has been posted as MO at PHC Oinamlong with immediate effect. However, the doctor has failed to report to her place of posting till date, he regretted.
“The delay in joining the duty by the said doctor has caused a shortage of medical staff and deprived the poor villagers of their right to health,” he said.
“Her negligence to duty and health of the surrounding villagers is completely unacceptable,” KSO Jiribam and Tamenglong branch added.
The village authority chairman council (VACC) also expressed discontentment and extended support to the KSO decision.
