He said that according to an eyewitness, a loaded truck heading towards Imphal side hit the two wheeler vehicle of the victim injuring him to the extent of semi-conscious and led to bleeding from both the ears. The eyewitness, instead of chasing the truck, rushed to the victim so as to take him to the hospital immediately and also informed two police personnel of Kangpokpi Police Station, he added.

Victim’s brother, Boichon Chongloi said, “since we are from an economically backward family we were worried about the hospital and medical expenses in case the accused is absconded. We have been anticipating that the truck driver would definitely find us through the concerned district police.”

KSO Sadar Hills has asked the accused (truck driver) to surrender at the earliest so as to avoid misunderstanding and intense form of agitation, including blockade of all loaded trucks along the National Highway-2. The student body also urged the state government and concerned district police to find the accused at the earliest and further appealed to look into the hardships and grievances of the poor victims.
