The non-SoO Kuki militant, Kuki National Front (Nehlun) group strongly directed the people of Saitu assembly constituency including politicians, village chiefs, social workers, and particular the intending candidates and their workers to strictly maintain ‘free and fair' election in the ensuing Manipur General Assembly Election 2022.

The militant outfit warned the people, politicians, village chiefs, social workers, all intending candidates, and their workers of Saitu assembly constituency to avoid using muscle powers, money power, vote capturing, any type of electoral malpractice until the polls are over.

The outfit information and publicity secretary, Gou alias Kuki said that the Saitu assembly constituency has always witnessed an outbreak of several cores of contention in every election owing to the use of electoral malpractice by some candidates resulting in killing, harassment, torture, intimidation, etc. to voters which was also witnessed in the last 11th Manipur General Election and Bye-Election.

He continued that KNF-N will no longer tolerate the culture of electoral malpractice such as muscle power, gun power, money power, vote capturing, etc. from the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2022. “We will rather, by all means, ensure 'Free and Fair' election to promote empowerment of International Human Rights concerning the Universal Adult Franchise and the Indian Constitution under Article 326,” he said.

“Therefore, it is our humble appeal to the people of Saitu assembly constituency, civil bodies, and different organisations to maintain a peaceful election to strengthen the voter's power to vote their own choice,” he added.

He also urged all voters to come forward to inform any malpractice committed by anyone for immediate action as proper action will be initiated to any violators and the sole responsibility for any such action will be defaulters itself.

Meanwhile, the Kuki National Front (Nehlun) group also announced a boycott of the 73rd Republic Day in all Kuki inhabited areas with effect from 1 am of January 26 till 5.30 pm in the afternoon.

The outfit stated that it had been continually boycotting national occasions such as Republic Day, Independence Day, etc. to make the Central government aware of the Kuki forefather's contributions to the Indian Independence movement and to let the government know their attitude towards the Kukis, which they alleged, the government has ignored the legitimate 'birth rights' of the Kukis for the creation of Kukiland.
