On the occasion of the 42nd Foundation Day of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), chairman of Politburo Standing Committee Ibungo Ngangom reaffirmed KCP’s commitment to always endeavour towards being the best example of a communist party by always prioritising the present and future interests of the masses.

In a release issued on Wednesday, he stated that it has been 42 years since KCP was established with the two-fold idea of liberating Kangleipak from the colonial yoke of India and establishing a communist nation via the path of scientific socialism.

“In these 42 years of our existence, we as an armed liberation organisation have encountered numerous challenges, most of which, however, have been surmounted with the blessings of the masses and the courage, conviction and sacrifice of our comrades,” he stated.

There is no denying that the long-running armed struggle for liberation of Kangleipak is getting tougher and tougher as the overall might of the occupying country keeps on rising on the back of its economic performance in the post-liberalization period, he added.

“But that does not mean that we should or will give up on our natural right to self-determination. Indeed, our uphill struggle will continue until our express ideological and national project is fully delivered. That said, we will continue to focus on the emerging issues of national consequence and also on ensuring that the indigenous people of Kangleipak (Manipur) remain safe, secure and dominant in our own land in the face of a host of threats, including the continuous flow of outsiders, facilitated by communal, political and religio-demographic vested interests,” he further said.

“Although the struggle to regain our national sovereignty, which was robbed under the guise of the so-called Manipur Merger Agreement 1949, remains the organisation’s raison d'être, KCP is also actively on the lookout for the hostile designs, which are usually packaged as development projects,” Ibungo stated.

To be able to survive as a nation, the people of Kangleipak (Manipur) cannot afford to be fooled again and again by the colonial Government of India, which, apart from following a strategy of violent repression, continues to deploy deceitful tactics towards a complete Indianization of Kangleipak (Manipur), from where it will no longer be possible for the indigenous people of Kangleipak (Manipur) to rise as a sovereign nation again, he continued.

The introduction of the extremist Hindutva ideology and its aggressive propagation in Manipur and other parts of the region can also be seen in that light. The extension of rail connectivity up to the central valley of Manipur is also another such example, he stated.

He alleged that the colonial Government of India and its local political puppets have systematically highlighted only the economic advantages that this rail connectivity project will bring to the region, while its adverse socio-economic implications for the indigenous people of Manipur are swept under the carpet. Indeed, this rail connectivity project is also a forward move in India's long-term strategic scheme of things vis-a-vis the ‘Western South East Asia (WESEA)’.

“Therefore on the occasion of the 42nd foundation anniversary of the KCP, I, on behalf of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Party, would like to appeal to the masses of Kangleipak (Manipur) to always remain vigilant against the evil designs of the enemy,” he stated.

Ibungo expressed heartfelt gratitude “for the never-ending support that the organisation has been fortunate enough to receive from the people.”
