Civil society organisations of Kangpokpi has called off its proposed 24-hour total bandh in the district from Tuesday midnight following positive talks with the government on Tuesday evening.
Kangpokpi CSOs had decided to impose a total shutdown in the entire district of Kangpokpi over shortage of staff nurses and other manpower in the District Hospital Kangpokpi.
According to the CSOs of Kangpokpi, talks were held at 7 pm in Imphal with the initiative of the MLA Nemcha Kipgen who is also the Minister for Textiles, Commerce, and Industry and Cooperation.
“As the government has given assurance to issue orders for posting of a few staff nurses and other manpower and the remaining posts as per the MGEL sanctioned posts after the assembly, we have decided to call off the proposed stir,” said KSO Sadar Hills general secretary Thangtinlen Haokip.
It will be seen whether the government is committed to its assurance and if it fails to act as per its assurance, then the stir will be resumed, he added.
