The Special Judge (NIA) on Monday released Youth of Manipur (YoM) member Laishram Bidyananda on bail by furnishing PR bond Rs 1,00,000 with one surety.
Laishram Bidyananda, who goes by the social media handle, ‘Kangleipak Hulk’, was arrested on February 2 in connection with an FIR registered against him for the viral message which “directly instigates and provokes the public to rise up for a large scale violence against the government of India and Manipur.”
The Special Judge (NIA), Imphal West, on Thursday remanded Laishram Bidyananda, who has been accused for inciting violence in voice message, in five-day police custody till February 12.

After completion of police custody, he was produced before the court through video conferencing. During the hearing, the Special Public Prosecutor and counsel of the accused submitted their submission.
After hearing both the submissions, the court opined that the investigation is almost over regarding a case in connection to the accused with the alleged offences and there is no room for tampering of any material evidence. So, there is no likelihood of the accused absconding from the case, the court said and ordered to release the accused on bail.
During the hearing, the Special Public Prosecutor submitted that the investigation of the case is in good progress and that the voice sample of the accused has been collected observing formalities. It also submitted that if the accused is released on bail, there is a high chance of large-scale agitation by members of Youths Of Manipur, which will disturb the maintenance of harmony, public order and tranquility in the state.

Counsel of the accused submitted that till date, there is no concrete evidence that the viral voice message is of the voice of the accused, that there is no question of tampering any evidence and absconding from the case. It also submitted that the accused shall abide by any condition imposed on him at the time of granting bail.
The court released him with conditions that the accused shall not abscond but present himself before the IO of the case as and when summoned or before the court on every date fixed. The accused shall not influence prosecution witnesses and he should not leave the state without prior permission from the court.
