Kakching: Two arrested with brown sugar worth over Rs 81 lakh

Brown sugar weighing 409 grams were seized from two people at Pallel in Kakching district, according to Assam Rifles

The Assam Rifles Mobile Vehicle Check Post in Village Molnoi of Pallel under Kakching district intercepted an autorickshaw carrying two individuals traveling from Moreh to Sora on Tuesday around 4 pm.

A thorough inspection of the vehicle led to the discovery of a hidden compartment near the passenger seat, containing 11 soap cases filled with brown sugar.

The total weight of the seized brown sugar was 409 grams, with an estimated value of Rs 81,80,000, the IGAR (S) said in a release.

In accordance with established protocols, the suspects, along with the seized brown sugar and other confiscated items, were promptly handed over to the Tengnoupal Police at 7.30 pm, the IGAR(S) said, adding that the Tengnoupal Police will conduct further investigations to determine the full extent of the drug trafficking operation and bring those responsible to justice.
