The Joint Protection Committee for Unoccupied Lands at Chingkham Area (JPC-ULCA) on Friday alleged the Manipur police force of resorting to excessive action and announced that any development projects in the unoccupied lands of Chingkham area has been prohibited.
A release by JPC-ULCA said that as many as 13 people were injured by use of excessive action by the state police during a protest against building of the Police outpost at Lilong Chingkham Ching.
It stated that Lilong Chingkham Maya Development Organisation organised a meeting regarding the issue at Lilong Turel Ahanbi Multi-purpose community hall, which was attended by corresponding state civil groups and student organisations.
The meeting unanimously agreed to prohibit any form of development projects by the government until the unresolved issues concerning alleged illegal land registration in the area have been settled, it stated.
Condemning the state’s alleged negligence toward the unresolved land issue and excessive police, it stated that if the state government fails to take up necessary actions and persist with further developmental projects, the Committee will take up intense forms of agitations with help from state civil bodies, meira paibis and student bodies.
