The Jiribam district VDF Welfare Association (JDVDFWA) on Sunday condemned the state government for allegedly denying the demands of All Manipur VDF Welfare Association (AMVDFWA), and demanded CM N Biren to implement their demands.
A release by JDVDFWA stated that the VDFs have been playing crucial roles for the State Police department in maintaining law and order for more than 13 years. It lamented that despite the efforts, the VDF community has been underappreciated by the authorities.
It mentioned that the VDF fraternity had been demanding the authorities concerned to upgrade the VDFs on par with the contemporary standard, releasing pay of 13 months, and improve the rules and regulations to regularise the VDFs, it stated.
It continued that the association had submitted an application, following CM N Biren’s statement, on the 12th VDF Raising Day. But no progress had been made owing to barriers in the ‘official process’, it added.
Urging the CM to pass the demands on the upcoming cabinet meeting, JDVDFWA asserted that the association will support the actions of AMVDFWA.
