IRB personnel arrested under vehicle theft case, three vehicles seized

The arrested person has been identified as one Athokpam Rameshwar Singh, 34, son of A Bira of Thoubal Athokpam Mayai Leikai.

One Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel presently attached to Thoubal district commando unit has been arrested in connection with vehicle theft on Wednesday while police seized three stolen vehicles including two Alto cars and one scooter (Activa) from his residence.

The arrested person has been identified as one Athokpam Rameshwar Singh, 34, son of A Bira of Thoubal Athokpam Mayai Leikai. He was arrested from his residence.

Based on a tip-off, a combined team of Imphal West district police, Anti-Vehicle Theft cell and Thoubal district commando unit rushed to the residence of Rameshwar and conducted a search operation. During the operation, two Alto cars both silver grey in colour and one scooter (Activa) maroon in colour were seized from his residence.

Registration plates of all the vehicles were found to be missing; however, one alto car was found to have its rear registration number plate bearing number MN01X 0220.

The person has been arrested along with the stolen vehicles by Imphal West district police, and a case has been registered at Imphal Police Station for further investigation.

As per identification card of the arrested person, he is an IRB personnel presently attached to Thoubal district commando unit.
