The Indigenous People's Front of Manipur (IPFM) on Sunday alleged that the ongoing unrest in Manipur is clearly a move to suppress the Meetei and Naga revolutionaries using the Kuki militants by the Central government.

"Normalcy can only be restored when the Centre stops supporting narco-terrorists and initiates political dialogue with the revolutionary groups in Manipur... It is surprising to learn that the then government had initiated SoO agreement with the Kuki militants who are only indulging in collecting illegal tax and ransom since 2005 and 2008," IPFM stated in a release issued by its advisor Jagat Thoudam.

It will not be wrong to mention that the "SoO group is a gang established by the central government to suppress the revolutionary groups of Meetei and Naga as a proxy force of counter insurgency operation," it added.

The ongoing unrest is neither a communal or an ethnic clash but a war against the Meetei by the armed Kuki and its supporters who dream of a Kukiland, it maintained.

The IPFM also expressed concern over the Congress party and its leaders for their alleged attempt to tarnish the image of the chief minister and his government and mislead the issue.

It highlighted the terming of the ongoing unrest as "Kanglup ki erang (ethics related issue)" and the demand for the chief minister to step down by AICC leader Jairam Ramesh which is also the demand of ITLF who misused the word indigenous.
