'India must provide equal respect to every religion for lasting peace in the country'

Post Christmas celebration programme was held at Chiuluan Baptist Church at Chiuluan village, Tamenglong, Manipur

In the effort for lasting peace in the country, India should give equal respect and protection to every religion, Chiuluan Baptist Church associate pastor Pouri Gangmei said during the Christmas celebration at Chiuluan village, Tamenglong, Manipur.

Speaking on the attack on Christians in other parts of India, the pastor on Monday thanked the Government of India for making the country a democratic country where every citizen has the right to choose a religion.

The pastor also said that Christmas celebration is a commemoration of God’s grace personified in Jesus Christ and it involves consecration of present life and also involves a contemplation of the promise of the future.

He was speaking at the post Christmas celebration programme at Chiuluan Baptist Church at Chiuluan village. He said that there are three types of people on earth. One category is that some people make things happen while some people watch and observe how things happen while some people enjoy life.

He urged all the congregations present in the Christmas celebration hall to adopt a resolution to live a better Christian in the future life.

Speaking to the Imphal Free Press on the sidelines of the occassion, Chiuluan Baptist Church pastor reverend G Chingliang said Christmas is the biggest celebration for the Christians. He said, “We are satisfied when we celebrate Christmas with young and old, far and near coming together, feasting together, praying together, praising God, singing and dancing together.”

On the last day of merry Christmas celebration at Chiuluan Baptist Church, Akhuan Gangmei family presented Christmas gifts to all the speakers of the 77th Christmas celebration under the theme ‘The indescribable gift of God’.

Speakers during the 77th merry Christmas celebration are Chiuluan Baptist Church pastor reverend G Chingliang, associate pastor Pouri Gangmei, associate pastor Gangkhui Gangmei, Town Centre Church assistant pastor Gairiulung Gangmei, Mission and Evengelist Secretary Chingkhiungamang Gangmei, Zeliangrong Baptist Churches Council Northeast India Accountant Ningtingliu Gangmei, Sunday School Superintendent Rakuyia, Women Society Secretary Kajingailiu and Sunday School Teacher Jaujianliu Gangmei.
