A youth who came to swim with friends at the community pond of Takyel Kolom Leikai Palli under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West drowned on Saturday around 2 pm and the body remained missing, sources said.

The deceased has been identified as one Ngangom Aboy, 17, son of Ng Itomba from Yumnam Khunou and presently residing at his in-laws’ residence in Tera Loukrakpam Leikai. He came to swim at the said pond with three friends.
Nets and boats from Manipur Fire Service are being deployed while a professional diver has been called in to retrieved the body.

As per a report received late in the evening, the body of the deceased has been fished out from the pond around 6.30 pm by the professional diver.
