A man was killed in a car accident that took place along Leimakhong-Pheidinga road in Imphal West on Friday, sources said.
The road mishap took place near Echum Lairembi Temple along Leimakhong-Pheidinga road under Sekmai Police Station around 10.15 pm, police said. They said the deceased was riding in a car (Hyundai i20) and was killed on the spot in a allegedly self-inflicted accident.
The police said the victim has been identified as one Yengkhom Surjit, 39, son of Y Nodiachand from Lilong Chajing Mairenkgong.
According to sources, the Hyundai i20 car with registration number MN01AS-2315 was heading from Leimakhong side towards Pheidinga and Y Surjit was killed on the spot when the accident happened.
The Sekmai Police Station registered a case regarding the incident. The body had been received by the bereaved family after a post mortem was conducted at RIMS.
