Imphal East: Two UG cadres arrested, arms seized

The arrested persons along with the seized items have been handed over to Lamlai police station for further necessary legal action.

A team of district commando, Imphal East arrested two active cadres of the proscribed underground outfit, RPF/PLA, while one pistol was seized from their possession at Takhel village, Imphal East on Monday.

The arrested person has been identified as one Leishangthem Khomei Singh, 53, son of late L Bidhu of Haraorok Mayai Leikai, Imphal East and Khangembam Sankoy alias Athoi alias Pambei, 28, son of Kh Manglemba Singh of Kumbi Setapur Maning Leikai, Bishnupur district, according to police.

Police said that they were detained during random frisking and checking of suspected passersby at Takhel village, Imphal East near the waiting shed around 4.35 pm on Monday.

One 9mm pistol and two mobile phones were seized from their possession during frisking.

On questioning, they revealed that they are active cadres of RPF/PLA and they joined the outfit through one captain Hemba of the same outfit, and presently they are working under his command.

They further revealed that on the advice of Hemba, they came to Takhel to organise a place for shelter of their outfit, as per police.

The arrested persons along with the seized items have been handed over to Lamlai police station for further necessary legal action.
