Manipur MLA Kh Joykisan on Wednesday enquired whether the work of the enquiry committee in connection with the IMC scam is simply done with the suspension of four section officers and termination of one SO of PWD, and urged to hand over the report before the end of the coming Manipur Legislative Assembly monsoon session.

Joykisan, who is also legislature leader of Manipur Janata Dal-United (JD-U) told reporters at his residence located at Thangmeiband that in connection with the misuse of developmental funds, other than GG Rongmei, no action has been taken against the contractors who were involved in the scam.

He said that before actions were taken against the five SOs of PWD, he was told that a huge amount was withdrawn in the name of development activities to be carried out for Thangmeiband Ward No I, II, III and XXV.  To sanction the bill, some corporators forcibly made the engineers sign the work bills at gunpoint, Joykisan alleged.

The incident was also reported to the MLA concerned. However, no action has been taken against those corporators involved in the incident yet, he added. The engineers also told him that the huge amounts were withdrawn without doing any developmental work, said Joykisan.

He further said the authority’s action taken against the five SOs proved that there was misuse of funds. “What is the conspiracy behind not taking any action against any of the contractors?” Joykisan questioned.

The coming Manipur Legislative Assembly monsoon session is scheduled to start from July 25, he said, and urged the enquiry committee to give a report to him before the end of the session.
