IFM supports farmers with winter vegetable seeds

Irabot Foundation Manipur (IFM), continuing its ‘Grow More Food’ campaign on Monday distributed winter vegetable seeds to the farmers of Kakching Khunou in Kakching district.

A team led by IFM president, Kh Gopen Luwang distributed the seeds to the farmers and even sowed American pea seeds at Rising Ground loukon, wishing progress and prosperity in the state, stated a release. Gopen also urged the farmers to join hands and work harder to make Manipur self-reliant in food production, it stated.

He stressed the need for everyone’s support and cooperation, stating that the same is required more than ever in such a critical juncture, it stated. He also noted the financial loss suffered by the agriculture and allied departments and appealed to one and all to join efforts in rebuilding the loss and boosting the economy, it mentioned.

He also advised the farmers to immediately consult IFM about any plant diseases and pest infestations, it added. Winter vegetable crop seeds including American pea, cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, brinjal, lady’s finger etc. were distributed to the farmers, it said.

Poinu Meepham awardee Kh Rajen; ex-councillor Ward No VIII, Khumukcham Brojen were among those present at the event, it added.
