IDS felicitates two eminent agriculturists

The agriculturists are Ningthoujam Ingocha Singh from Kumbi and A Ashia from Senapati, stated a release.

The Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Manipur, on Monday celebrated its foundation day at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal, wherein the institute felicitated two eminent agriculturists on the occasion.

The agriculturists are Ningthoujam Ingocha Singh from Kumbi and A Ashia from Senapati, stated a release. They were feted with traditional Lengyan Phi and Citation, the release said.

Ingocha thanked IDS for recognising his efforts in agriculture and horticulture with new vision, skills and innovative ideas.

As per the release, inaugurating the event, RK Nimai Singh said there is no Anglo-Kuki War in Manipur. Only the military will fight in the war but not by police. The historians have a big role to play in correcting the wrong narratives. Countering the narratives will be made with proper documents.

Taking part in the event, IDS chairman professor N Mohendro Singh cited the example of Indonesia, and said a Truth Commission may be formed to restore peace and normalcy in the state. He reiterated the need for a strong economy in Manipur to meet any challenges and untoward incidents and sought cooperation from the academicians and intellectuals to fulfil the vision made by IDS, it added.

President of All Manipur Bar Association, P Tomcha Singh; Managing Director of Thangjam Agro Industries, Thangjam Joykumar Singh; Yumnam Laksman Singh of IDS and others were present at the event. Attendees also observed one-minute silence as a mark of respect to those who sacrificed their lives in the ethnic conflict, it said.
