The Joint Action Committee (JAC) that was formed against the hit-and-run incident in Thoubal organised a protest meet on Wednesday, condemning the incident. The JAC resolved to impose a 48-hour bandh along the NH 102 Imphal-Moreh starting 5 am of July 8.
The protest against the death of Naba Meitei from Kiyam Siphai Khundongbam Leikai was held along the National Highway 102, Imphal-Moreh highway near Kiyam Khong Ahanbi under Thoubal police station in Thoubal district.
Naba Meitei succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a vehicle going towards Imphal from Thoubal on July 3.
At the event, one Laishram ongbi Ibetombi, who is also the sister-in-law of the deceased said that Naba was hit by the vehicle near his residence. She also condemned the police for failing to arrest the culprits so far.
Convenor of ‘JAC against the Brutal Killing of Laishram Naba Meitei’ Kh Inaocha said the JAC has been holding democratic forms of protest, but it appears that the authorities are not doing much to nab the culprit.
Therefore, the JAC has resolved to impose a 48-hour bandh starting from 5 am of July 8 along the NH 102 Imphal-Moreh which passes through Thoubal district, unless the culprits are nabbed by Thursday, he said.
